"organize yourselves, and prepare yourselves, and sanctify yourselves; yea, purify your hearts, and cleanse your hands and your feet before me. …”
isn't being a grownup hard. i love it and i hate it. Wait am i even a grown up? I still feel pretty helpless sometimes. Its really really really hard to feed myself, i have to think of the food i want to eat and when to cook it and go and buy it and make sure it is healthy and that you cook it correctly and then you have to do the dishes.
Doing the dishes entails cleaning. And cleaning is another thing about being a grown up. You just have to do it witout having a job chart or your mom telling you what to do. and then there is laundry.......
Laundry is the thing i hate the worst. Because first of all you have to put your laundry in the laundry basket, and then sort it, and then put it in the washer and then in the dryer(if you remember before they have already dried in the dryer. then once you get it out you have to fold it. Then iron some, and finally you ha ve to hang them up. It is a very long process.
Then you have to make sure your bills get payed. That is hard too, just remembering!
Being grown-up is hard, because you have to be organized, like the qoute says. do you know who the best examples are of being organized???? my parents. or should i call them my P's.
And you know what the best aprt about them is? They totally help me all the time, with the whole being a grown up thing.
This week my momma was really worried about what i was eating. I told her, i hated shopping and cooking and it totally stressed me out because i would go to the store but still feel like i had nothing to eat, 60 bucks later. And do you know what she did??????
The next day she went shopping for me, made a whole list of easy meals to make and came to my apartment and helped me put them away. I have eaten soooo well this week! i love my mom.
There are a whole bunch of situations like that. She has come to my apartment 5 or 6 times over the past 2 years, taken my laundry and a few days later i have clean laundry. wow. i know that she is really busy, but she is also really self less.
ok maybe i should go on to my dad because it is fathers day tomorrow. My dad is probably the most dedicated and hard worker i know.
PEOPLE he gets up at 4:00 am so that he can work. He says that is when he gets his best work in. and does he take naps? NO! what time does this man go to bed????????? 11:00.
and he pays the bills and keeps our yard looking spotless, and cleans the house and makes his bed, and talks to me and to all his other 4 kids, and plays with his grand kids, and helps do dishes and does his sunday school lesson, and builds houses and draws up plans and goes to arizona.
when my dad goes to Arizona for work... he will work for 48 hours straight with a 4 hour nap in there somewhere! He is pretty much amazing.
But the best thing about my dad, is that he never makes me feel like he is too busy for me, although he is actually getting about 5 times the amount of things done that i get done.(i consider myself busy most of the time) He will always talk to me, or look something up on the computer for me, or take stuff out to my car, or shovel the drive way so i can get to my destination on time.
I like my Dad's cooking. He pretty much only makes two things. Both of which, i love! He makes potatoes and eggs ( which is delicious. what you do is you mix scrabled eggs and mashed potatoes together), and poached eggs with grits. He prefers his pached eggs mashed into his grits. I love when my daddy makes me this meal. it is my favorite probably more because he always makes it late at night and then we all have really goods talks around the kitchen table.
i like my dad's choice of music. He has had the same 6 CD's in his car for the last year. Here is what they are: some broadway musical i have never heard of, copeland(or mae), Susan( a broadyway stars CD), a country CD and i can't remember the other ones. He loves broadway music and considers it to be really the best music available. He also loves James Blunt! ha ha He came home one day and asked "hey Jen.. who sings that song 'i saw your face in a crowded place' i really like that song."( he sang in just like him)
My Dad taught me how to drive. My mom has only recently started getting in the car with me. My Dad is really patient because, contrary to popular belief i am not that coordinated. I am sure he thought he was going to die about 101 times. anyway, thanks for teaching me to drive dad! and thanks for still letting me drive even thought that one time i wrecked 3 cars in 10 days.
that is another thing about my dad. He doesn't really get mad or have a temper. And i really appreciate that and wish i could be more like that. I am never scared of him. Like when i got in the second wreck in 10 days, i was totally embarrassed and ashamed and mad at myself and thought he was going to be so mad and never wanted to drive again. But although he was a little frustrated, he never got mad at me or didn't let me drive. actually he made me drive again! woah! and he told me things are just things. my dad is really really nice and i think he must really love me alot because if my daughter does that i think she might not drive again for 19 years.
my dad is probably the most accustomed male to tears. We have a house full of tears. but he is probably one of the best people to talk to when you feel really really terrible. tears don't phase him at all. I think it is really sweet when my dad cries in movies. it usually has something to do with kids, if he cries. he really loves kids.
a few years back(about 5) i remember him saying. "Robin(that is my mom) we need some babies around here. I miss babies" he got his wish. He loves loves loves babies and most babies love love love him. Now he has his wish and we have 3 baby nephews for him. And he is the best grandpa ever!
also my dad is really smart. He never admits it but he is. Ok people, he was the VALEDICTORIAN of his high school. And he only got one B in college and he retook it! hello! He majored in accounting, which I say you have to be smart to like. Other wise, it is just boring.
ok well i better get to bed but there are a whole bunch more things i likeand love about my dad!
I love you Daddy!
thanks for being so nice!
Love
Jen
