i would think that people in the world with all the color of skins and whole PR and non-racist thing, would stop saying/caring/whatever about skin.

but people still always care about how white I am........

and some people feel like they gotta make me feel better so they will say " its okay jen i am really white too." they pull up their pants. without me even bringing my leg close to theirs to examine, it can be seen.......i'm STILL ALOT WHITER.

It took me a long time to get my name changed, because of this and that and mostly I was just mourning the loss of my last name which was a good last name.
But Mooney is a great last name and finally I felt ready.(that may have been due to my husband saying he was going to take me out to dinner and give me jewelry with an M on it. ha ha :) LOVE HIM! )

Merry Christmas

This year was a little bit different because I had to work the night shift on Christmas eve. So, we had to move our traditions around. Working Christmas Eve really wasn't that bad though. The hospital gave us treats and a lunch and everyone brought treats to share. And my family came to visit me( they are so rad). So on christmas morning things got started a little bit later (around 11) after we had eaten our full breakfast(we usually eat after presents.)

Daniel and I hit the jackpot this year! I finally gave in to all the hints and gave Daniel a bow tie, he has been wanting one for months! He looks cute in it.

The most fun of christmas this year was little Crew! He loved getting his baby doll. It was a present to all the "grandkids" but since Crew was the only one here, he got to open it and he loooved it.
We finally figured out why......the bottle.

He loves to suck the fake bottle! hahaha! Love it.

Life of an ER nurse...my dreams are haunted

A lot of my life revolves around the hospital. And it is manifesting itself in my dreams and sleep talking and half awake moments.

Some examples....

I often ask Daniel while I am sleeping if he is in "any pain"
I also ask him if I can take report from him. I ask stuff like " okay which patients do you have? Which ones am I taking? Whats the matter with them?"
I had a dream that one of the nurses from work was Daniel's other wife.(although this girl in real life makes cute babies, so maybe having her as the other wife wouldn't be so bad.) haha JK
I had a dream that one of the male nurses molested me. that was weird. hmmm
At the beginning I would wake up in the middle of the night thinking that I had forgotten that I actually had a patient at my house. And I knew I had a patient in my house i just wasn't sure where she was. This happened like all the time and I had to reason with myself for like ten minutes while I was waking up, that "jen, you can't have a patient"......"you're at home..."
I had a dream that one of the orthopedic surgeons was going to do surgery on me and I was REALLY worried that he was going to see me naked.

BUT LETS BE REAL HERE and talk about my real life worst night mare about the ER! If I am ever THE trauma patient..... TALK ABOUT EMBARRASSING. That would entail me being naked in front of a lot of doctors and nurses and techs who are your FRIENDS. WEIRD!!!!!!!!!!

The real update on the last six months is that I work! I love almost everything(the people, the doctors, the nurses, the work) There is only one problem....the silly hours. But since the other stuff if AWESOME, its worth it. Come visit me at the Emergency Room in Provs, I'll be there.

Back in August Andrew ran a marathon, Daniel ran a half and I ran the last three with Drew, in my sperrys and skinny jeans, because Andrew almost died. Seriously, he could barely move, but he finished and in a great time too!

We went to Mary Poppins. It was semi par but fun.

Harry Potter LAND! It was half miserable because it was so hot but so fun!

Beach FUN! WE found the prettiest beaches!

Swimming with dolphins! They wouldn't let us take pictures cuz they wanted to charge us a million dollars to buy their pictures. We stuck it to the man and didn't buy them.

We gave up our seats for a few hours back from florida so we could get our flights paid for. We made 100 dollars an hour just having fun and eating wings!(see below)

Convocation Day

Convocation was so fun too! Though I may have started crying. Not a lot. Just a little. I have seriously grown to really love love love love love my nursing friends. ALL OF THEM! I wish I had fifty more years to get to hang out with them in every Tuesday class and Thursday clinicals! I love all my nursing friends. And every new person I get to know better in nursing school I wish I had gotten to know them sooner!

I also love NURSING! I do!
I can't wait to work as a nurse!

First, I just have to pass the NCLEX (ahhhh!!!!)

This is one of my favorite professors ever! She is sooooo cool!
Every time I see her she knows exactly what is going on in my life and she never forgets.

Commencement Day!

Commencement Day was soooooo fun! I woke up late. Then I went and got my hair did. She even curled it for me. Then I went and bought myself some makeup from MAC for my very own graduation present. Then I went to Commencement and then we went to Tucanos to meet my new (soon to be) brother in laws family! What a great day! I loved it!The tulips were blooming around campus!

Daniel may or may not have been really sneaky and dressed up in his robes from last year so that he could sit by me at commencement. It was too funny!
Hahahaha!

But I sure was glad he was there so that I could talk to him because I got bored.......
I am sort of like a little kid when it comes to long meetings.
Plus, my parents weren't coming so we were both going to have to sit by ourselves!

We ran into Grant, Daniels roommate and (soon to be) best man at our wedding!

So, I had to complete 220 hours of clinical hours at the Payson Hospital ER. And I have loved it but I think that I love it even more that I am done.
(cuz i gots lots to do!)

I think I might burn my scrubs!
They are so gross, because I just used Katie's from when she was in the nursing program.
They are like 5 years old now.
And white, which equals=pen stains and all sorts of stains.
BURN THEM BURN THEM!!!!!

Also, I just got finished working four night shifts in a row, and before that I knew I was going to have to be working them, so I just put myself on a night schedule.

So, when I drove today in the sunlight, my eyes were hurting! I am like a bat, or a vampire!

**** Note, this blog post may look familiar but actually, it has a different ending then the last time. see the last one here.
I go to BYU. At BYU there is one very tall building called the SWKT. (pronounced swicket)(it stands for something but I don't know what it is)

There are 12 floors in said building

I have most of my classes in this building because the nursing headquarters are located here.

well, in order to get to the 12th floor you have to have a key card and it has been one of my goals for quite some time now to make it up there somehow.

Today, i got in the elevator(remember i don't take stairs), and a guy that was my age, , came in and swiped the key card to the 12th floor.

I was like:

"i be lookin fly"( i got ready today) "i should give it a try"

So I tried it. I said:

"hey so i've never been to the 12th floor. wanna take me?" ;)

and he said

YES

There is something going on up there on the 12th floor that is secret and covert, and I now know what it is. I can tell you only one thing. Its humane. If that makes you feel better.
(also now i am determined to get to the roof! who is with me??????)

I did a finger block today, on a patient with a finger that needed stitches.
So, my nurse(who really is the cool) showed me how to numb up the entire nerve for that finger. um, cool!

also, i would just like to post a picture of my wedding colors, because when i explain them, i feel like they sound ugly, thats because they do.

1. a fun, outgoing person. generally smart but can be a total blonde at times. someone who likes meeting new people, and smiles a lot. a person who never would just turn on people. a very good friend. someone you can trust. when she's mad, stand clear she might blow her top. but a person who doesn't get mad easily so you dont have to worry about that.

this morning i woke up after my first class started. i took a mental health day.
then grabbed a diet coke for breakfast, perfect.
then i panted up the stairs. holy cow, when you only do that once a week, it is even worse

I am doing my capstone at the ER in Payson. I do lots of IVs. yeah baby.....

I am taking American Heritage.

tomorrow is my last first day of nursing classes. i hate that. i do. i will miss everybody. i just watched the last semester's graduation video and started crying. ohhhhhhhhhhh. shoot.

welp, I'm engaged. To a really, really great man, who is so devilishly handsome and nice and smart, and funny, and is a great best friend. (i mean, seriously, look at him!!!!)

So here is the story(its gonna be detailed, because i want to remember it):

I first started to get to know Daniel Mooney last year when I bought a month of nice notes from him from the Ward Service Auction ( they are little pieces of paper, that on Sundays you write something nice on, then the Friendship Council delivers them Sunday evening) I thought it was so funny that someone would auction these off, because you can basically only write two words on them, because the pieces of paper are so small. So, I told him that since I had payed money for these nices notes, they better be at least a page long, and in song or prose format. He was so creative and funny with them and I even blogged about it he re and here.

So, this year for Christmas, Daniel kept on asking what I wanted for Christmas. I just told him, not to buy me anything because I knew he was going to buy a ring for me. So, he said that he would do another month of nice notes for me. The first one he did, was right before he went home for Christmas. It was a compiliation of Rap/ Hip Hop songs that he had changed the words to. He did it in front of my whole family (um. super cute. i love him).

He was down in AZ over Christmas and I was in UT. He was coming back on New Years Eve and so he told me he wanted to take me on a date that night. I was like OK, but I was just thinking it was a date because it was NEW YEARS and because we hadn't seen each other in so long.

Anyways, on the way up to Salt Lake, he asked me if I wanted the rest of my nice notes, I said "sure, whenever, i don't care when you give them to me."

So, we went to dinner at Thaifoon at the Gateway. (side note here: We got in the elevator, going up to the restaurant, with a few older couples. Daniel asked them if they knew where thaifoon was. Then Daniel asked one of them "Bishop Edgely, right?" and then the old guy was like, "yeah, and what's your name?" It seemed like they knew each other. So i was like, " oh cool! how do you guys know each other." well, he is in the PRESIDING BISHOPRIC. he didn't look at all familiar to me, and still doesn't. maybe, i should listen

in conference better. so embarrassed.)

After dinner, Daniel wanted to give me a nice note, so he went and got his guitar and sang me "I'm yours" by Jason Mraz on a bench at the Gateway.

Then we headed over to the Joseph Smith Memorial Building where they were having free musical performances all night. There was this big band and a lounge type singer lady. They sang songs like " Don't get around much anymore." and "A tisket a tasket i dropped my little basket." There were a whole bunch of elderly(like 70 and older) people there, a lot of them got up and danced, and so did we. (daniel kept on asking if we should take our stuff with us, when we walked away like 20 feet to dance. it was kind of weird.)

Then we went to this party at the Gallivan center. There were art displays, and professional snow boarders, and a dance area, and a stage.

Daniel gave me another nice note there. It was a mash-up of a lot of really good songs, that was really cute.

We were getting a little bored of the party, until this really awesome band, called the Voo Doo Orchestra started playing. They were all kids under the age of 18, that were like a Jazz Band Extrodinaire. The singer was amazing. He is going to be the next Michael Buble. We listened to that for a while.

Then, right before 12, Daniel said he wanted to go on top of the Conference Center, to watch the fireworks. But we only made it to the bottom. We watched the fireworks and then I might have given him a New Years Eve kiss.

Then he pulled something out of his chest pocker of his jacket. I was sort of thinking it was going to be a ring at that point but it was just New Years Eve poppers.

Then he wanted to give me the last nice note. We tried to go up the stairs to the top, but they were locked. So we went over on some steps at the conference center that was near a water fall. He pulled out a poem that said the nicest and sweetest things to me. I cried. It was so sweet and special and beautiful.

(about 20 mins after he asked)

He then told me to stay right there and got down on one knee and proposed to me. I said yes and then started sobbing. It was so sweet and special and beautiful, again. I love him. I can't believe that I am going to marry Daniel P. Mooney. A guy who is so much more than I could have ever imagined and that I love so much.

Then we came home and celebrated with Katie, who was the only one up!

so, i have been having trouble getting into the Christmas Spirit the last couple of days.

i'm just kind of dramatic sometimes. and a romantic. and all of the "tics" that cause you to have strong feelings.

so, tonight i read Luke 2. so, i can remember the true meaning of Christmas

tomorrow i'm going to wake-up and put on festive colors.

and think of something Christmas-y to do with my nephews

and think of what to do for my parents(they like us to give money to service rather than to them.)

and i'm gonna think about others instead of myself.

We went to twilight. Abby got us all tickets around 3 months before the show! It was awesome! Abby brought vampire teeth and passed them around to the whole theater. Freddie Hansen started a shout out for Team Jacob and Team Edward. Basically, it was awesome!We put some awesome posters of twilight on our friends Emily and Jen's because we were so excited about it!

I have been "learning" since i was 2 that love should be oh so romantic, and heroic and heart palpitating at every moment. I also have been "learning" from other fiction movies that jedis, ton-tons, jar-jars and the force are real. NEWS FLASH! none of them are real! enjoyable? yes! real? no!"

killing children is forgiveable as long as you come through in the end.

Another movie boys should learn life lessons from: Bourne Identity Series.

no matter how many times you get shot at, you won't die, if you're a good spy.
its ok to kill alot of people, as long as you are a spy.
if you have alot of car chases, and get in lots of wrecks, you probably will still be able to walk. right after they happen.
even if the main lady dies, don't worry! another one will come along in the sequel.

my sister tara is pregnant. she is also a crazy sleep talker. i love her.

she is such a bad sleep talker, that in the "top ten reason's to marry tara" in her wedding breakfast, i said.........

"3. you should marry tara is because you will have a complete performance every night the rest of your life."(i had slept with tara on many a family vacation and been woken up to tara singing, reciting lines, or frantically moaning and talking etc.)

i was right, and scott couldn't sleep for like the first 4 months of their marriage because she was talking so much. but it has only got worse since the pregnancy. she talks in this in between state of awake and asleep.

scott has started recording them. they are hilarious. so, i have decided to have tara sleep talk moments every once in a while. or until they start a blog solely dedicated to her sleep antics.

most of the sleep episodes are very dramtically played out. like she might die. she is very agitated. she often starts crying. she is hyper-emotional. she goes from really lovey dovey to very frustrated in a split second. lets just say. it is so funny. so when you read them just imagine tara being very emotional when saying everything. again, hilarious.

so,

TARA SLEEP TALK MOMENT #1

Tara: i'm so cooooooold (shivering frantically, and very dramatically. i'm sure)

Scott: sorry honey

Tara: (commanding) scott. i want you to wrap me up warm like a pigs in a blanket.

Scott:i don't know what that is.

Tara:(very frustrated) YOU KNOW, the hotdog covered with a biscuit.

Scott:oh, you mean like a corndog??

Tara: (getting really really really frustrated)NO!!!!!! it doesn't have a stick up it. why would you put a stick up it?? its just a pigs in a blanket. YOU KNOW! like sometimes at the mall they put pretzels around the weiner.

(he proceeds to wrap her in the covers)

I told them I thought they did nothing for us, or at least didn't publicize it very well.

Actually, I was kind of a brat and rather pessimistic. But hey, I had just taken a test and got 3 1/2 hours of sleep. They can't expect much. Plus, sometimes I like saying slightly sassy things to show the institutions of the world that I am a REBEL!

I now wish I could have just given them this post from last year around BYUSA elections.

First off, why...... do the Aspen Ridge Repair/Maintenance people, and Fed Ex people come to your door and knock REALLY loud. It SCARES me, ok? And I think it is rude.
Also, I think it is really rude when they(maintenance people) come to your door and just let themselves in. Would they do that at someone's real house? I don't think so...... One time they just came in when I was still in bed, and then I felt weird and scared to come out of my room. And I got stuck in there for 5 hours. YES! 5 HOURS!! And then, they ate our candy. RUDE.
Also, I have a memory from my childhood. I remembered the said memory when I was stuck at the psych hospital doing nothing. Which is what I do everyday at the psych hospital, nothing. (I have my clinicals there right now). Wait. I take that back, at this very moment I was working on a boondoggle and listening to some oldies with the patients. Which, a very kind Rec Therapist gave to me to work on, because he realized there was nothing for me to do. (I am in the process of an attitude adjustment on this psych hospital matter. I haven't quite got it all the way adjusted. But I love the people there, just not the NOTHING for me to do part.) Anyhow, I remembered that when I was six or seven I LOVED the beatles. And would lock myself in my room with the best hits of the beatles and a microphone and rock on, for hours and hours.

For our ward we had a ward carnival. Abby and I were in charge of the love booth. I was in charge of reading their Auras and Shakras ( skills that i really did learn in nursing, its totally weird,and i believe totally untrue, but don't tell my nursing professor that. but hey! i guess perfect for this sort of thing) and crystal ball reading.

We set up under a couple of trees. I put down a sleeping bag, my herbs, and essences and then people came to me to get their auras and shakras read. I tell you what! almost every bodies love shakra was totally off. these poor singles ward people. but don't worry i got it all fixed up.(by having them smell some herbs, or eating a sprinkle. ha ha!)

Abby was in charge of match making and love classes. She had them come in and gave them a speech about how "love lifts us up where we belong.........love, love is a battlefield etc." Then gave them this piece of paper........

i never do crosswords. but today my friend was doing one in class and i was helping her. i got two words in the whole hour. then i decided i should do one for myself, so i picked up the newspaper and started it all over. i spent like 4 hours doing the New York Crossword today. and i STILL can't find some of the words and it is driving me crazy.

conclusion: crosswords aren't good for me. it put me in a bad mood.

WOW.

I am totally in love with Kristin Chenoweth.

She was on GLEE this week and it was amazing.

She just has so much energy, that it leaks out all over the stage(in this case the T.V.)

I love her. You should watch her in this week's GLEE. Then skip to 12:20. Then you will find a great song with her and this other girl. I have listened to it about 13 times today. AHHHHHHHHHH! I love it!

today was a great day.

one of the best things about today was in my Judaism and the Gospel class we sing hymns and people actually sing OUT LOUD. and it is REALLY loud. and i LOVE it. i think we should always sing out loud because it helps you feel the spirit of the song.

also, i have a confession. i tear leaves from trees and them rip them up. i do this at least twice a day but usually more. abby gets mad at me. but i can't help it. i love ripping up leaves. its really weird.

Today in my nursing psychology class, they had us take an anxiety test. I scored fairly low in anxiety levels, but let me tell you this was not always the case.

In eighth grade, I was an over-achiever-to-the-max. I would spend hours on my homework. I would type everything, including my P.E. notes. My P.E. notes people! But it wasn't just ordinary typing, it including bolding, italicizing, inserting pictures, and making some words different colors. My teachers loved me, but I was miserable. I felt like I should always be doing homework and did just that: always did homework.

My dear, sweet parents, would catch me doing homework, and tell me I really didn't need to be doing it. But, I didn't believe them. I felt like everyone else was doing this much homework too. I would start sneaking doing homework, mostly trying to type my P.E. notes when my parents were out of the house, so they wouldn't see me doing it.

I had OVER one hundred percent(a feat that is only possible in junior high, I wish they still gave extra credit in college from a few crosswords) in every class. I got the highest grade on almost every test.

Not only was I doing homework ALL-THE-TIME, but I was going to dance 10+ hours a week, piano lessons and practicing, and voice lessons and practicing, and playing the violin and practicing. I was super-super busy. But I was not happy.

Finally, after being caught again on the computer typing my P.E. notes, my parents decided they needed to intervene. They called all my teachers and told them the problem, and let them know they should not expect the same quality of work. I was closely monitored while doing my homework and was only allowed to do the minimum. It KILLED me and I was so embarrassed, and mad. Doesn't this sound like a drug intervention? I joke about it now, but it was a huge embarrassing, painful part of my life then. I truly had to recover and get over my anxiety. I am so thankful for my perceptive parents who nipped that in the bud before it got too bad.

Well, today I was in my psychology class, pondering about my experience with anxiety and thinking how I am pretty laid back at most times of my life. ( though, i am not perfect and still can't sleep before clinical days and i sometimes have to repress feelings of anxiety about if i really did put that assignment in my backpack) Well, I discovered that I am pretty much healed of anxiety at this point in my life, but there is still one remaining factor that I cannot seem to get rid of, due to my over-achieving ways. And that is: I walk at a fantatical pace.

I walk so fast, I feel light headed and can't breathe. Its more like a sprint. I need to slow down and soak in all the goodness that is around me. I have been missing so much beauty all these years. I tried it today. It felt good. So, if you see me walking slowly, pat me on the back. If I sprint past you, yell at me. Help me get rid of my last symptom.

It took me until my junior year of college to truly realize, I can be happy at any busy-time of my life. I HAVE to make time to relax and know that I am the most important thing in my life and I need to be happy with myself and let go of stress. Choose not to be stressed.

I realized that I need to feel the love that Heavenly Father feels for me and I know that He loves me, even if I don't have perfect grades or run 5x a week. If Heavenly Father can love me for my imperfections, than I can too. I can always try to do better, but I can love myself through my journey. I'm not going to be perfect or better all at once. I guess that's why Heavenly Father gave us a lifetime to try. We don't have to run at a fanatical pace to get to perfection, we need to enjoy the journey on the way there.

So I guess that is what I am trying to do. I am going to walk more slowing literally and figuratively and let the world throw me what it may. But I will be walking slow enough to see that the objects being thrown are flowers and not thorns. I will be able to see the joys in the journey, the joys of jennif.
